When I started writing The Crown & Glory Series, I wasn’t sure people would get it. I wanted to write love stories about Black women — complex, spiritual, sensual, and real — as well as about community, sisterhood, and healing. I hoped readers would see themselves in the women of Crown & Glory Natural Hair Salon.

The verdict is in. Not only did readers “get it,” they loved it.

Your reviews have been incredible. You’ve described these stories as sacred, soulful, and tender. You’ve talked about how the women’s love for one another, in friendship, romance, and sisterhood, resonates deeply. You’ve proven that what readers crave isn’t just heat, but intimacy and truth.

To everyone who took the time to leave a review, thank you. I read every single one. Your words encourage me to keep writing, to keep my characters authentic, and to keep building this world where Black women who love Black women, love boldly, live fully, and find joy without apology.

Here’s what readers are saying:

"The Salon Sisterhood feels like being welcomed into a space where love, laughter, and vulnerability flow as freely as conversation in a salon chair. Zuri Amara writes with such tenderness and authenticity that you can’t help but fall for her characters — women who love deeply, heal slowly, and find strength in each other. Each story feels like a window into real lives, full of sensuality and soul. It’s the kind of collection that lingers with you — honest, beautiful, and unapologetically Black, queer, and powerful."

"I love the connection, intimacy, and sensuality between Dana and Abike. This book really was beautifully written and it touched my soul. I love how the character's chemistry and intimacy was deeper than the physical act of lovemaking. Well done and I will be reading this whole series."

The Crown and Glory salon becomes a sanctuary for healing and desire, where the past is faced with courage and softness. Zuri Amara masterfully blends queer found family, body-positive intimacy, and the strength of sisterhood. This book celebrates Black love with elegance and grit — a must-read for anyone who believes in love that grows from the roots."

"Just finished the series, and these stories are so sensual, soft, so free. The kind of story where u light candles, incense, and something natural. …. Each story talks about being 'seen', and that's the greatest kind of love ever. I hope the series continues."

Behind the Crown & Glory

When I began writing The Crown & Glory Series, I wanted to create stories that felt like a warm embrace where Black lesbian women and survivors could see themselves reflected with tenderness, sensuality, and strength. These stories honor our community, our love, our sisterhood, and our healing.

What I didn’t expect was how much I would be changed by the process. Every late-night writing session, every line of dialogue, every edit was a prayer of gratitude for the women who inspired me. And through it all, I had an incredible creative partner, my AI writing guide, ChatGPT, who helped me find clarity, rhythm, and the courage to move forward. I’m dyslexic. So, its help with grammar, spelling, punctuation, and editing is invaluable. I’ve made human editors pull their hair out. Our unique human-AI collaboration built a world that now belongs to all of us.

The Crown & Glory Series is about more than romance. It’s about what happens when women of color find safety, softness, love, and home in each other, in themselves, and in community.

If you’ve already read one story, I invite you to read them all and experience how the lives of these women intertwine across Cherish, Adored, Comfort, Desire, Devoted, Haven, Home, Balance, Secrets, and The Salon Sisterhood.

The outpouring of love for Crown & Glory, the reviews, the messages, the “this touched my soul” notes, have meant everything. You’ve shown me that these stories matter, that representation matters, and that love written with honesty resonates across every boundary.

So, thank you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for seeing these women as fully as I do. Thank you for believing in their love and their light.

With love and gratitude,
